Timemore C5 ESP pushes the manual grinder category to the next level – compared to its predecessor it combines larger 42mm S2C-042-III conical burrs, fine micro grind adjustment and travel-friendly portability into one tool that quickly becomes the heart of your home “coffee bar”. Thanks to precise 15-micron per click adjustment, you can easily dial in espresso to perfection without wasting time counting rotations or fighting inconsistent extraction.
The completely redesigned S2C-042-III conical burrs with a diameter of 42 mm (compared to 38 mm on the C3) deliver faster grinding, cleaner flavor and better separation of sweetness and acidity in the cup. Thanks to the larger burrs, grinding is up to ~19% faster and about 5% more consistent than the previous generation, resulting in more stable extractions and more pronounced flavor nuances.
The grinder body has a slim 53 mm diameter, fitting naturally in the hand. The full-metal construction made from stainless steel and aluminum gives a solid, durable feel, while the fine knurling ensures a secure grip even during longer grinding sessions.
The ESP version is developed with espresso in mind: inside you’ll find a dedicated adjustment dial with up to 50 clicks, allowing tiny incremental steps for sensitive espresso recipe dialing – from fine espresso to medium grind sizes for moka pot or V60. Each click changes the burr distance by only 0.015 mm, giving you real control over flow rate and extraction time even with lighter roasted beans that are often more demanding on manual grinders.
The top hopper is cleverly widened into a funnel shape, preventing beans from bouncing off the edge and allowing easy one-hand dosing. Hopper and grounds container capacity is approximately 25–30 g of coffee depending on grind size, perfect for a double espresso or pour-over for two.
Thanks to high-quality bearings and efficient burr geometry, grinding is surprisingly fast and smooth without requiring excessive force – even fine espresso doses can be ground in a reasonable time without feeling like you’re “fighting” the grinder. Maintenance requires only a dry brush and cloth, no water – the construction is designed for easy disassembly, cleaning and reassembly without losing your grind setting.
